Ambassador Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi, a passionate advocate for people with disabilities, has urged Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide (ODIDI-OMO) to take up the cause in the House of Representatives. He seeks to:
1. Create a stand-alone status for persons with disabilities in every program.
2. Review the National Social Register to include persons with disabilities.
3. Ensure state and local governments include persons with disabilities in their programs.
He notes that despite the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities Act (2018) and Nigeria's ratification of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disability in Africa (2023), the recent 'Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer' program violates the Disability Act by not setting aside funds for persons with disabilities.
Ambassador Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi is pushing for inclusive poverty alleviation programs and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. He urges ODIDI-OMO to represent their concerns in the House and advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities.
