A coalition of South-West Support Group for People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidates, under the aegis of its convener, Comrade Osunkunle Abass, has urged every party member to be on the same page in order to gain victories for all party candidates in the forthcoming general elections while reiterated its commitments to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in all elective positions, citing good legacy and style of the current Oyo state Governor His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde which according to the group remained the only template South West may be a powerful tool to secure the victory for Presidency, National Assembly and other positions in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Speaking at a Strategic Summit and Press Conference held in Oyo Township Hall, the National Coordinator of the coalition, Comrade Osunkunle Abass said that the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President will right the wrong and restore peace and progress in the nation.

In his statement: "In 2015, we witnessed a mass revolution orchestrated by propaganda. Nigerians went to the polls yearning for a solution, the All Progressive Congress (APC) party promised heaven and earth, the wind of change was propelled with high expectations but today, it's the next level of nothing but sufferings.

“Now the reality we face remains insecurity and Nigerians must rise and vote out the incompetent government of APC, a setback in education as a result of ASUU strike, the economic meltdown in which all businesses have crumbled, Unity orchestrated by nepotism and favoritism, nothing like federal character anymore” he said.

Also, Comrade Abass urged the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku abubakar as a matter of urgency to address the crisis rocking the Party as so as to set record straight and allow Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja to be a substantive Party’s National Chairman in order to party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, a co-convener of the Strategic Summit, Hon Afolabi Idris (Aloma) said: “Leadership consists of picking good men and helping them do their best. We have identified that person, and we are putting our time, energy, and resources to ensure that we set this country on the right path. The 2023 general election, unlike any other, is an election in which we can’t afford any mistakes because our survival as a people and as a nation depends on it.

“This is why the Southwest youths have taken it upon themselves not just to identify the right candidate, but to also agitate, propagate and ensure that the appropriate candidate emerges as the next President, Senators, Reps, Governorship, and State Assembly in Nigeria.

“The Coalition of Southwest Youths would not relent in its pursuit of good governance laced with fairness and equity-like Oyo State. We are dedicated, we are determined, and we are deliberate in our quest of ensuring good governance from May 2023 at all levels (Federal, State, and local),” he assured.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP Party Chairmen in the Oyo Federal constituency, Hon. Sakiru Ojo urged the people of South-west not to throw away their political energy to an unclear and uncoordinated political move.

On the newly inaugurated group, he noted that they would focus on Presidential, National Assembly Candidates and Governorship to project by coordinating, sensitizing, and educating the people of South-west on the circumstances of the emergence of Atiku Abubakar and other PDP candidates to rescue the country from the current mess.

Princess Folashade Adeyemi and Mrs. Salaudeen Thabita urged the Coalition not to engage in the usual jamboree campaigns, but in a grassroots mobilization built on a pragmatic and real mass base.

The events featured questions and answers, analysis of elections, campaigns, strategic movements, and lots more.

In attendance are; Prince Adegboyega Adedotun, Princess Folashade Adeyemi, Hon Afolabi Idris (Aloma), Hon. Sakiru Ojo, Hon. Kabiru Ashamu, Hon. Kabiru Oloyo.
