BREAKING: Makinde, Oyo PDP To Receive APC, ADC Defectors At Lekan Salami Stadium Thursday
The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said the leadership of the party alongside its overall leader and Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde will on Thursday 13 October officially receive thousands of political decampees from other parties into its fold.
The event according to the State secretary of PDP, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke in a message to all PDP members across the state sighted by westernmirror news will take place at the remodelled Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
The political defectors according to Alhaji Adeleke’s message are from the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC) as well as other notable politicians who’s names are yet to be revealed for political reasons.
“This is to inform us all that the Leadership of the Party will be welcoming decampees from APC, ADC and other political parties on Thursday, 13th of October 2022 at the Remodeled Lekan Salami Sport Complex by 10am prompt.
“The official welcoming of the defectors will be performed by the Leader of the Party and the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde.” The ruling PDP message reads.
The ruling PDP in Oyo state has continued to receive defectors from other political parties into its fold in recent weeks especially as the 2023 political campaign season has kicked off officially across the nation.
Most recent of such defection took place in Oluyole local government penultimate week when the party spokesperson, Akeem Olatunji alongside others received some political gladiators from the APC and Accord in Oluyole local government into its fold following what was described as Makinde’s soaring popularity and landslide achievements in less than four years in office.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Akeem Olatunji in his reaction to the defectors penultimate week assured that both old an new members have equal rights and opportunities none should feel threatened on account of when they joined the party.
